WordPress Camp

The WordPress Camp Jinja, from 4th – 6th September 2024

Following the ICT Exhibition organized by Luweero Diocese – Education Department, Luweero SS became one of the three schools that worn sponsorship to the WordPress Camp in Jinja. Luwero SS was in the third place, Luteete SS in the second and the overall winner was Ndejje SS. The Camp took place in Jinja City from 5th to 6th September 2024.

On 4th September, ICT Education Department of Luweero Diocese under Ms Claudia Duerr arranged transport to Jinja by Coaster, for the students of the three schools that were given sponsorship. The total number of learners were 20; 10 students were from Ndejje SS, five (5) students were from Luwero SS and five (5) from Luteete SS. All students were of form 4 (2024) in the three schools.

Learning and all interactions with WordPress took place at the innovation village on Main Street Jinja city. It was a wonderful experience for our students. They explored WordPress, a web authoring software widely used to build powerful websites today.

All teachers and learners were able to make connections with various people from the global WordPress community. Presenters from Africa, Asia and United States lectured

LUWEERO DIOCESE ICT EXHIBITION HELD ON 02/08/2024

Our school, participated in the Luweero Diocese ICT Exhibition organized by the Luweero Diocese – ICT Education department at the Luweero Diocese Secretariat Hall. The event was sponsored by COWORKERS, a German NGO which is running the ICT section represented by Ms Claudia Duerr Nabakooza. In the exhibition students unveiled a lot of ICT skills, gathered more than 180 learners from 18 schools and about 20 teachers and 5 special guests. Our school was represented by 5 students of S4 and five students of S3 totaling to 10. Mr. Wamangoli Dickson and Mr. Kiwanuka Isaac were the teachers present to accompany the students.

Special guests present at the event included among others the following:

  • Dean of Faculty of Education, Ndejje University- Dr Sekiziyivu
  • Mr. Ddumba Steven of ITAU

Results from the exhibition gave Ndejje SS the best exhibitor; Luteete SS followed and then Luweero SS in the third position. Mr. Kiwanuka Isaac was one of the judges that saw Ndejje SS emerging out victoriously with their E-waste website that matched well with the year’s ICT Theme, ICT Safety and Environment. Luteete SS in position 2, with an online learning platform, all judges agreed, can be very useful if supported by the school in terms Internet access. Luweero SS website had very good layout design and content and judges saw it as an outstanding school website if fully completed and hosted. 

All participant schools were awarded gifts ranging from Brand new laptop for the best website exhibitor to external hard disks, headsets, Wireless Router, CD packs, USB hubs, power extension cables, ICT books, among other items. Luweero SS received an external hard drive and an ICT book. The three best schools, on top of the gifts, all received sponsorship, for 5 students to participate in the WORDPRESS CAMP to take in Jinja between 5th and 6th September 2024. Luweero SS is one of the beneficiaries to take 5 students to this event.

At the end, all students and teachers present were very grateful to the COWORKERS Organization and Luweero Diocese, ICT Education Department because every school actively participated and won a prize.
